This purpose-built bar entirely designed and built by Made Up was featured in The Financial Times’ How to Spend It magazine’s Five Best London Winter Terraces.
The Glenlivet whisky commissioned our experiential professionals to recreate Livet Valley in Scotland, home to The Glenlivet distillery since 1822.
Features included a bespoke-built ‘night sky’ installation that substituted grey London views for a “starry sylvan sanctuary” to quote The Financial Times. The team used two layers of decoration to create a sense of ongoing space: for instance, a bespoke printed voile was added to the ceiling in front of the stage set-style ‘star cloth’ illuminating walls and ceiling. Wooden structures recreated the rural Scottish skyline. Red cedar wood exterior cladding provided the perfect entranceway and fragrance.
The project involved working around the delicate open pagoda installed in the courtyard of the prestigious Rosewood London hotel. During notoriously bad weather, leaks were caught by a specially-installed central ceiling channel, and rainwater distributed to existing trees and other plants.
The build evolved to include a new access way for staff, and further logistical features including locked storage for back of house. Made Up’s designers are always enthusiastic to work with site management on solutions to any issues.
